kde applications requiring password can't be started by click icon

hi, there

I am using kubuntu 7.04 and recently got the problem that the kde applications which requiring root password (such as the synaptic package manager, wlassistant, etc.) can't be started by clicking the application icons from the menu even after the password is input correctly. Nothing happens after I tried to start the application. However, those applications can still be started from the command line. The applications which does not require the root password such as kdevelop are all fine. These trouble does not happen before and I don't remember if I did anything wrong.

I restart the computer many times, the trouble does not appear for a few times but it duplicates most of the time. Please help me to fix the problem. The kde version is 3.4.
