Execute Shell Scripts with Media Manager

I can't find a solution for the following problem:
When I connect my Nikon D70 the Media Manager window pop up: That's fine and as it should. But I want to do something different then offered in the menu. I want to start a shell script that copies and renames my photos.
My shell script should ask for a parameter (where to store the photos). This works fine when I start the script from a terminal. But when the script is started from the media manager it doesn't. It's running without this parameter! And I even don't see a terminal window running the script.
What do I have to do to run script from the media manager the same way as in a terminal?

I'm using KDE 3.5.5 R45.

Thanks for your help,
