No Mouse icon *moved*

Newbie alert.

I just installed Kubuntu 7.04 desktop on my Libretto U105. I can't see the mouse! Toolbar icons change color when I move the mouse around and both left- and right-clicks work, I just have no idea where I'm clicking. The U105 has a stick-type mouse, but I also tried my Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse (the old type) with the same results. I went into the system configuration screen but could not get anything to work on the General tab. Help!
