Kicker icon zooming--where'd it go?

In older versions of KDE, as recent as KDE 3.0 or maybe 3.1 or newer, I used to use the icon zooming feature, which zooms an icon on the kicker when you point to it. I loved this feature, but on the more recent KDE's that I've seen with Vector, SuSE 10, etc. the icon zooming is replaced with a popup balloon that gives a description. While I'm not exactly wanting to get rid of that (Apple proved that people do like that feature!), I want to also have the icon zooming available once again. Does anyone know whatever happened to that feature? Can it be brought back for the new KDE 4 and newer?

the feature has been removed in kde 3.4.

in kde4, kicker will be removed as wel, being replaced by plasma.
plasma should give you more flexible configuration options, so if someone is interested in icon zooming, he/she could write a plasma plugin for it.

I saw that they have been doing a complete overhaul of KDE for version 4. Will the desktop menu bar still be available, or has it been whacked? That thing does help out a lot more than you realize. It's amazing how many programs I've found that have menus that appear in this bar, but don't have a place for a menu bar in its own window (Kontrol Center being one example!).
