Resetting user names and information
Having been annoyed by Windows for some time, I've just installed KDE with Ubuntu. All went fine until I started messing about with the user names and their privileges. I had set up the first in my own name and, having realised that this was the user with administrative privileges, sought to correct this by creating an 'admin' user with these privileges, and swapping over names and passwords.
I now cannot log in using either my own name or the admin user, getting an error message saying there was a problem with kconfigure (or something similarly named). I can only log in as a user with no administrator privileges. Te whole thing is a mess.
How can I delete all the users and their information and start again?

Depends a bit on what you messed with.
You can activate the admin account by typing sudo passwd root.
That creates a password for user root, which is the admin user of linux.
if that fails, try to append the boot option init=/bin/bash to the bootloader (read its (online) manual about how to add arguments/options to the bootloader commandline), and start ubuntu with it.
After that, type passwd root to repeat the processs.
restart ubuntu afterwards.
Now you can login as root with the command su in konsole.
As root, try to fix the permissions of the users you mangled with.
