Why is KMail so slow?

Hello,

I have an openSuSE 10.2 standard installation and tried out to use KMail for my IMAP Account at Fastmail.fm. KMail is very slow in looking for new Mails and updating what's on the server. KMail seems to look every time in every folder beneath the INBOX folder. However this is the standard structure on Fastmail.fm. Every other E-Mail application which I use (Thunderbird on Windows, Evolution on a fedora system) is much faster. Is there a way to speed up things in KMail? Or alternatively, can I use Evolution within KDE on this openSuSE Box? Evolution appears to me much more reliable and - yes, I think it looks better. But then I would tend to use Evolution as my standard application and would like to sync my Palm with it. Would this be possible with kpilot?

TIA
Uwe

RE: Why is KMail so slow?

Yes,also for me Kmail is VERY SLOW !
I do not know why ! In a first time it was enough easy to handle my email box, but now I need more or less 5 minutes to check my pop3 email box while with thunderbird I need less than 5 seconds !
What is wrong with kmail settings ? I leave my messages for 2 days on my email server because I use many different PCs and I want to be updated in each one. I think this is not a strange setting !
Anyway with others email clients all is fast, with Kmail terrible slow !
I don't want to use no-KDE applications but I need a solution.
Thank you.
