KDE Best Security Metods

Hi Everyone

Totally new to Linux and I just wanted to ask some questions and get some advice from you guys on a couple of things.
Obviously I have my computer connected to the internet and I am using KDE.
I have firestarter running as my firewall, but how do I know if it is working correctly etc ?
Also, what Anti Virus do you guys make use of to ensure that your computers are okay ?
Finally, do you guys make use of any Anti-Spyware ?
Basically I want to make sure that my Linux setup is secure, virus free and works as best as possible.

Any advice on security is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance
Thanks in advance

Does no one have any advice for this ?
Surely you guys must be using some sort of Anti Virus, Anti Spyware and Firewall ? I am really reluctant to work on my linux machine knowing that there is no way I can make sure it is safe and secure.

What do you guys use ? How do you guys know if your system is safe and secure ?
Thanks in advance
