Problems connecting to remote host

I'm trying to use KDE system guard to connect to my friend. The problem is, I can't seem to connect (every time I try, it claims the connection was lost). He's tried to forward 3112 (the port we think remote connection uses), with no results. He can connect to mine though just fine (I don't have a firewall, but I should -_-). Maybe he didn't forward the correct port? If not, what port do we need to forward? Any help will be appreciated.
