Kompare stops analysis or there is a bug.

I have edited a PO file using KBabel, and I now want to see the changes
made to the file, before transmission to the translation manager.

Here is what I notice after running compare:
1. Kompare shows only one difference on line 2 only, while I know there
is a lot more.

2. The PO file was created through KBabel and is in utf-8 encoding.
When opened by Kcompare, encoding does not seem to be recognized;

3. The boxes for Source or Target directories state "inconnu" (unkown in
English), and those of Source and Target filenames are blank.

Could anyone give me some hint? I am relatively new to both KBabel and
Kompare, but I would like to use them on my project.
