User's keyboard continually frozen

I need to somehow reset whatever startup script happens to initialize the peripherals as a User logs in...all my other users are fine, but for one user, the keyboard doesn't work. If I log in as that user in Gnome, all is fine. Just when I choose a KDE session. The mouse works fine...I just can't type anything. If numlock is on, it stays on throughout the session until I logout. I think the simplest solution will just be to reset to the defaults whatever initializing gets done.

I am using FC5, recently yum updated, and KDE 3.5. The updates do not seem to fix anything. I am pondering wiping the .kde file entirely, but that seems very drastic -- and I suspect I would lose Kmail and my Korganizer files, plus who knows what else.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
