desktop icons issues

Hi

I'm using kubuntu 6.10 (kde 3.5.5). My system is up to date afaik.

Problem #1 :

I have unchecked the option 'Show Device icons' in Desktop configuration so I shouldn't see any icon related to devices, right ? Well, I do. Right now I have a 'cdrom0' icon on my desktop (kubuntu dvd in drive). I have tested the following : removing cd/dvd from the drive, icon disappears, inserting cd/dvd in drive : icon pops up.

Any idea ?

Problem #2 :

Desktop icons are moving every time I get on the kde desktop. Well almost every time and not necessarily all of them. Using the option 'lock in place' or not, they keep moving and don't remain in place.
I have 5 icons in a row on the left side of my desktop, centered vertically. Sometimes only the icon on top moves up, sometimes the first two icons, sometimes 3. Most of the time only one. And if I don't replace it at the right place, it will keep moving up at the next reboot.
The funny thing is sometimes 'lock in place' was 'on' and I have to unlocked the icons to replace at the original place.
As far as I can tell I had that problem on several previous versions of kde and every time I hope it's fixed. Looks like it's not.

Suggestions welcome if any fix is available.

Thank you
