ICQ and Jabber not connecting on Kopete 0.11.3

Hello all,

First post here! So, just as "Subject" above states, Kopete 0.11.3 is not connecting to both ICQ and Jabber protocols. I'm using KDE 3.5.4 (considering upgrading to 3.5.5) and Slackware 11. Any hints?

Looking forward to solve this problem!

Thanks!

RE: ICQ and Jabber not connecting on Kopete 0.11.3

The problems with ICQ are known, you should upgrade to a post 3.5.5 release (if the distro does supply them). Or wait for 3.5.6 which will contain the fix.

I'm not sure what could be wrong with Jabber? What I can suggest for now is to verify your connection settings are OK. Or try to enable/disable some connection settings and see if that improves the situation.

Well,

I'm upgrading KDE now to 3.5.5 - hope this solves the issue!

The thing with Jabber was, perhaps, lack of information on my part. As I understood, I could enter my Gmail account login and password to access the contacts in that account. Is it not so?

Thanks!

Not only your account name but your full GMail address as login. In the Connection tab, make sure the first three options are checked and you're talking with talk.google.com on port 5223.

Jabber's working! Thanks!

Now I'm still waiting for KDE finish upgrading so I can see what happens with ICQ!

Once more, thanks!
