Kopete Ports

What port(s) do I open in firewall to allow file transfers with Kopete, and what port numbers.

RE: Kopete Ports

Although I didn't have adapted my NAT/Firewall for MSN file transfers, they still do work. So it may be another problem.
But for completeness, MSN uses ports 6891-6900 for files.

Adapted? I have done nothing beyond the installation setup for the os and took the defaults. I am tried 6981 but my transfers are extremely slow if they work at all on with messenger with or without a port set. I had thought it was the firewall because the one time I dropped it to test, it worked, but I just tried that again today and it didn't. That was the only time it ever worked.

Well, slowness is just a common issue (and think about it: it's rediculous to send files along a protocol which was not initially designed to send files). So for large files I'd suggest other protocols :)

slowness

Well, I suppose it may be a common issue. but I am not an advanced user and was doing fine with the 30 kilobytes I was getting in Windows with msn and aim for what I was using it for, so I just assumed something wasn't right because I only seem to get 3 or 4 with kopete.

Would like to have everything working properly just on principal.

When I am an advanced user I'll move on to other things, but that raises questions in my mind as to whether or not they will be compatible with the programs my acquaintances are using.
