Kmail can't see message

Hello,

I'm running Kubuntu 6.06 and KDE 3.5.3. I recently had to reinstall Kubuntu on my laptop. I copied my home folder first onto a USB memory stick, and copied this into the new home folfer under the new installation. Everyhing has gone fine, apart from -

in KMail I have receive incoming emails and a number appears after 'inbox' to show how many. The pane which lists the messages however is completely blank. The .kde/share/apps/kmail/mail inbox file is empty. I'm guessing that kmail has put the messages somewhere else, but I can't think where.

How can I get to see my messages?

RE: Kmail can't see message

It could be that mail is stored in ~/Mail now, but KMail somehow looks in ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail . To make sure that KMail looks in the right directory, whichever that may be, you should edit your kmailrc.

Add the following line under the [General] section:

Source code

1
folders=path-to-folder

Make sure Kontact/KMail is not running at that point.

RE: Kmail can't see message

Thanks for the idea. However, the kmailrc file shows folders as pointing to the right folder. The folder is empty but kmail still shows 17 mails in the inbox with nothing visible in the messages pane.

You're sure the permissions inside the mail folders are OK? They could have been messed up by transferring them to another system.

I've checked the permissions and they're all fine.
