Disable panel background rotation?

I am using KDE 3.5.3 from kde-redhat with Fedora Core 5. My setup is such that I have the main panel at the top of the screen, with an external taskbar at the bottom (yeah, it ends up looking a lot like gnome... deal with it... :P )

Anyway, I have a background image that I'd like to use for the panel and taskbar, but it should appear the same for both as it has some text on it. However, for the main panel at the top it gets rotated so that the text is upside down. I can temporarily fix it by tweaking the position to go to the bottom and then back to the top, but some events will cause it to rotate back (like locking the panel). Is there any way to disable the image rotation behavior. Looking around it looks like it was added way back in KDE 1.1.

Should I just submit this as a feature request at bugs.kde.org?

RE: Disable panel background rotation?

The rotation thing looks hardcoded, I have no clue about a configuration option. You could use two images, one normal and one rotated one.
Submitting this wish at http://bugs.kde.org would never hurt actually.

I don't see how to set separate background images for the panel and external taskbar. Any appearance changes I make to the external taskbar also get applied to the panel, and vice-versa. In the past my solution has been to edit my wallpaper to include the background image, but this gets tedious to do every time I want to change the wallpaper.

I'll post the suggestion to bugs.kde.org.

Went to file the bug, and the dupe check found this:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105955

It mentions an option to turn off the rotation in kickerrc. A little googling to find the documentation for the options and I think I've found it:

~/.kde/share/config/kickerrc

Add the following section [General]:

RotateBackground=false
