Oh no - mail gone?

I am running KMail 1.9.1. Was going through and cleaning up some stuff. This included clearing out the list of accounts.

One of the accounts was for a disconnected IMAP account. From the Configure KMail page I selected the account and "Delete". Lo and behold, it not only deleted the account, it deleted the folders where I was saving the e-mails. Unfortunately, I did not want that to happen - I just didn't need it to keep checking that account for e-mail as it was no longer valid.

Now my problem is how to recover those e-mails and the folders? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Would there have been a backup file anywhere that I could possibly use as a restore point (there was nothing for a couple weeks that was new)? This is running on a SuSE 9.3 install.

TIA!!!

JCausey

P.S. - Can anyone advise where I might file something with the developers re: giving a warning that you are about to delete your mail directories when you delete an account?
