application specific audio device

Is there a possibility to start a KDE-application with specifying a certain audio device that should be used by this application?
So, let's say, arts is configured to use /dev/dsp, and I start another application and want it to use /dev/dsp1. In this case, I want Kopete to use /dev/dsp1.
Is this possible?

Thank you in advance.

RE: application specific audio device

I don't think so.

Found on http://www.arts-project.org/doc/handbook/artsd.html
To use aRts there should be one and only one copy of artsd running.

And this daemon specifies which device to use (-D flag). So you can only use one device at a time.
