KSpread won't open Excel sheet

Hi,

I'm unable to open a simple Excel 2003 spreadsheet in KSpread 3.5.1. I see:

Could not open /media/sda1/AudioCDs.xls
Reason: This document has no sheets (tables).

I've tried saving it as an Excel v4, 3, and 2 document, but no luck.

Here's the file, in case anyone would like to try. Suggestions?

RE: KSpread won't open Excel sheet

Unfortunately, the MS Office import/export functionality in KOffice is weak.
But KOffice 1.5 is about to be released any time now, and it has improved Excel filters. You could try that.

Hi,

unfortunately it seems you will not be able to open the document with KOffice 1.5 either. If you have installed OpenOffice.org though, I suggest you open the file with it for now, seems to work fine.

Thanks!

KOffice shouldn't have to maintain MS compatibility anyway... After all, it's Linux, not Windows. (MS compatibility is OOO's big thing, since it's multi-platform.)
