konqueror folder icons

Is there a possibility to configure konqueror that a specific png-file is used as icon for a folder if this file exists in the given folder? Let's say I have a file called folder.png in different folders, and these files folder.png are different ones. How may I configure konqueror that for these folders the specific file folder.png is used as icon instead of the default one? I surely do not want to do this by hand and configure each of these folders to use a different icon than the default one. So, konqueror should show me the default icon if there is no folder.png in a folder, but if there is such a file, it should be used.

To repeat this: The file folder.png in folder_a is not the same one as the file folder.png as in folder_b.

Thank you in advance.

RE: konqueror folder icons

I'm afraid this is only possible by hand.

konqueror folder icons

I realize this thread is dated - I found it months ago through a google search on this very topic. Since then I have been looking for the answer and finding none, I have created my own solution.

I removed my original post on this subject because on this date ( 04/20/2007) I am providing new information:

konqueror folder icons (thumbnails)

UPDATE!
I have perfected my original solution and now one can automatically create thumbnails to serve as custom folder icons in any folder you choose. Find the instructions and scripts at:

http://www.soapbaux.com/linux

If you decide to install the scripts (I tell you how) you will be able to customize any folder in 3 easy steps. After selecting a representative photo to put on your new thumbnail:

1. Copy the photo and rename the copy to temp.jpg
2. Paste the renamed copy back into the same folder
3. Execute the shell command (Ctrl+e) and enter the proper script name

That is all. Please find the Makethumbs scripts package at the above URL and...

Have fun with it... :)
