[kopete]Input box colour

Where does kopete find the colour it uses for the background for the input/typing/text box during conversations? I cannot find any way to change it, and it is stuck on a very dark colour, which is not helpful (the background colour bucket is also greyed out, if that's important)..

It seems to respond to changes to the Standard Background in Kcontrol->Appearance and Themes -> Theme Manager -> Colours, but I don't know if you can change it without altering the corresponding colours in all other apps at the same time.

Thanks for the response, but unfortunately the background colour remains exactly the same. It doesn't change with any colour in the standard appearence dialogoues in the control centre or any other settings I can find, be it in kopete or konqueror (which did have the same background colour, but then I changed it, and the kopete textbox colour remained the same)..

Very odd - it does on mine (0.11.1). There must be some override somewhere in Kopete that you can set, but I don't know where it could be :(

Alternate method of attacking the problem.

I tried doing a complete uninstallation using synaptic, but it retained all my settings. I'm thinking there's some config file sitting somewhere that refuses to be wiped, any idea where that might be?

Synaptic won't clear your personal settings - these are stored in a couple of places, that I can see:

~/.kde/share/config/kopeterc
~/.kde/share/apps/kopete

If you're going to delete them, then I'd very strongly recommend backing them up first as there might be something important (chat logs; contact lists; etc) in there that you won't want to lose! :)

Excelsior!

It iis fixed.

It was the kopeterc an option right at the end about rich text formatting. Thanks Zod, you are a great man, I kneel before you.
