media:// and non kde applications

Hi!
I've got hal, dbus, kde 3.5 and ivman and everything works fine except when I put for example a cd konqueror pops up and shows me the contents and if I click for example an avi file that is opened by mplayer the file first gets copied somewhere and then it's played by mplayer (the copying part can take a very long time for a cd with a 700mb avi...) The thing is that the cd gets mounted in /media/hdc so if i open /media/hdc with konqueror and click the file there then mplayer starts fine.

So how now I want to do one of these two things:
1) make konqueror open /media/hdc instead of media:/hdc
or
2) when I click something.avi in media:/hdc this should translate to /media/hdc and pass that to the program.

I could make a wrapper script for mplayer that would do that but then what about the other programs like openoffice. Any ideas how could I do this?
gentoo, kde 3.5
