Can KMail download the old Emails from server?

I'm using KDE 3.5 with KMail 1.8. I backuped all my Emails in the campus server.

However, sometimes, I don't check Emails by the same computer. It's quite strange that every time when I tried to check Emails by KMail, I cannot see the read Emails any longer. I mean, some times, I do need to read the old Emails again, but I couldn't make it with KMail.

Can anybody help?

I know there is an Import Messages Tool, but how can I just download the old mails that only restored in the campus server?

Cheers

RE: Can KMail download the old Emails from server?

Which protocol are you using to connect to the Campus Server? Sounds like IMAP. I access our Microsoft Exchange Server at work with KMail and sometimes all messages newer than a certain date suddenly disappear from my inbox - they only come back after a complete restart of KMail. Your problem may be related.
