RE: Konqueror doesn't show/open jpg files

In Settings -> Configure Konqueror, have a look under File Associations. In the 'Find filename pattern' box type in 'jpg'. Expand the little arrow next to 'image' that appears in the known types box, and click on 'jpeg' underneath it.

On the 'Embedding' tab, ensure the Left Click Action is set to 'Show file in embedded viewer'. Under 'Services Preference Order' make sure 'Embeddable Image Viewer' is the top entry. (Or Gweview Image Viewer, if you prefer to use it's plugin in Konqueror to view images)

This should fix that problem for you.
