screensaver quits coming on after being logged ona while

After been logged in for several days, KDE no longer brings up the screensaver or powermanagement settings so my monitor doesn't go off. After logging out of kde and logging back in, it is fine for a few days, and then doesn't go off anymore. Any ideas? [KDE]
