[kopete] No more MSN signing

Hi there,
My kopete does not connect anymore to my msn account whereas aMSN still does.... It asks 2-3 times to enter my password which is definitely GOOD and nothing happens....

I am on Debian Unstable with linux 2.6.12-1-686, KDE 3.4.2 and kopete 0.10.3

Is there someone encountering the same problem ?

have your network settings changed? if they have, you need to open port 1863. Failing this, try set HTTP connection in the msn options.

No I did not change anything to my network and my tcp port 1863 was opened. Actually, it has not worked since I updated my kde for the 3.4 version. It is not so boring actually for me as I am not a msn addicted. Anyway, thank you for your help.

What we can do?

Thanks.

[kopete] still not working

It is weird cause there is not even any error messages .... I am still confused cause amsn works fine and connect normally meaning that there is no network configuration problem...

If anyone has a idea, I am waiting for it.
Thanks

Same problem for me

I'm running Kopete 0.10.3 on KDE 3.4.91 and cannot connect to MSN neither. The ports are open and other IM protocols work fine (namely Jabber and ICQ). Running Kopete from a console gives a couple dozens of:

Source code

1
MNG error 1029: Chunk out of sequence; chunk TERM; subcode 0:0

But the same error displays upon connection with other protocols, which do work quite well.

I realize that running a version of kopete with debugging enabled might help, but for the moment I don't have the time, sorry. I will post anything I find, though.

Cheers,

RE: Same problem for me

Thanks, We feel less lonely and I am happy to recruit no-more-msn-signing-with-kopete-experimenters. For me, it is not so boring cause i have lots of work to do so, i do not lose my time on msn anymore (i dislike amsn and anything else than kopete :-) And, I definitely do not have time to compile kopete with debugging enabled and check what's wrong (i'm sorry)... I have just sniff eth0 (ethereal) and the msn server just does not understand kopete anymore...

Solved

Actually, I have just remove the kopete directory and it works again :

Source code

1
rm -fr .kde/share/apps/kopete*

So i still do not understand why it did not work but i still do not have time to understand...

I am facing this problem too, once I try to connect to msn with kopete, it says that my password is wrong, although Im sure that I entered it well.

however, Im relatively new to linux (I installed it earlier this afternoon) so I don't get things yet... although I read manuals carefully.
I entered the code described by brojnev in shell something, but I still cannot log on.
my kopete version is 0.10 and my KDE version is 3.4.0

does someone have a different approach for this newbie?
thanks in advance :)

I found it strange that I could sign in this morning but not in the afternoon, I hadn't made any changes to Kopete.... But then I remembered that I had installed Openoffice2.0.0 today, and I traced my output during a login with Kopete and found:

kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: Undefined symbol "OpenSSL_add_all_algorithms"
kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: Undefined symbol "OpenSSL_add_all_algorithms_conf"
kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: Undefined symbol "OpenSSL_add_all_algorithms_noconf"
kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: Undefined symbol "PKCS7_content_free"
kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: Undefined symbol "OpenSSL_add_all_algorithms"
kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: Undefined symbol "OpenSSL_add_all_algorithms_conf"
kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: Undefined symbol "OpenSSL_add_all_algorithms_noconf"

Now I remembered that when I installed Openoffice2.0.0 one of the dependencies had been openssl-beta... Could this be the problem? I removed OO and openssl-beta and reinstalled the original openssl, and Kopete worked again. :-)

No MSN signing

The same problem.
MSN asks for passwd though I give it correct one and an appropriate port is open.
I've got Kopete 0.10, KDE-3.4.0 and openssl-0.9.7i on my gentoo box.

rm -fr .kde/share/apps/kopete*

Hmm, strange.. It doesn't work for me, msn never worked though.

I hope somone can explain to me what to do (an other program with wich i can chat on msn is alsow a solution, so if you know a good one. plz do tell me)

grtz and tnx,
