Sync Addressbook for KMail and Thunderbird

Hallo!

I have the following problem/task:
I want to use the same addressbook in KMail 1.8.2 (KDE/Linux) and Thunderbird 1.0.7 (Windows XP). I would like the programs to to sync (automagically?) with a file on an ftp-server and be able to use a local/offline version, if the ftp-server is not available. Sounds like a fairly common problem, doesn't it? But I found no solution so far.

Simply adding the addressbook on the ftp server as a new resource for kaddressbook does not help, because then all addresses appear twice (local file and remote file of server) and they do not get synced.
Maybe kitchensync is the way to go, but I gave up checking for it, since I was waiting for it to come along since KDE 2.0(?).

Any tips (and full solutions :) ) are very welcome.

PS: I have a similar question concerning Bookmarks in XBEL format for Konqueror (Linux) and Firefox (Windows). (see network section of this forum).

I am afraid that this might not be possible yet.

But you better ask on the kdepim-users mailinglist, where one of the PIM developers might know a way to do it.
