A seriouse problem with the Text in KWord-Please Read.

I do not know if there is a way for me to fix this anoyance in KWord. what I'm talking about is the text. Whenever I type, the letters are always either too far or to close to each other.
Like I would type 'apart' but It would look like 'a part'. And sometimes the a and the p would appear connected. It is very strange and annoying. Is there a way for me to change this in KWord.
