problem visualizing pdf with kghostview

Hi to everybody,

I am a newbie so, please, take patience of my stupid question...

I have installed Slack10.1 and all works fine. But I need the possibility to extract text from pdf files. So I tried to install ghostscript and gsview with the only result of making some mistake in kghostview installation too. Now kghostview is able to open only few pdf files, whereas the majority remains blank. It do not give me any error messages. The same problems has also gv (the 2 program can open the same pdf files).

I have installed xpdf and it works fine always.

Now I can work this the latter, but I would like to understand where the problem is.

I have already tried to re-install various kde packages (kdebase-3.3.2-i486-1, kdegraphics-3.3.2-i486-3, kdelibs-3.3.2-i486-2), but the problem remains.

What I have to do to use kghostview again?? ?(
