kmail refuses to open

Recently kmail has refused to open for me. I click the icon or enter the command, and the taskbar and cursor indicators tell me that it's launching activate, but the app lever launches. There is no daemon in the taskbar, and there is no kmail in the process manager. Can anyone help me?

Can you start kdcop and check if it lists KMail?

Are you using Debian Unstable, and have you recently done an update/upgrade? If you are this is probably your problem. (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=317098) Currently you can use Kontact for email until the KMail problems are fixed.
