Please help: GUI applications don't come up under KDE

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, running KDE 3.1 on RedHat 7.3:

After using KDE for a while with no problems for a while (on my workstation at work), I begin to run into a problem where I can't launch any GUI applications from the KDE menu - I'll see the application's icon in the KDE panel, with the rotating hourglass, but eventually it quits without bringing up any sort of a window. The extra wrinkle is that if I try to launch the same application from the Konsole command line, then it comes up correctly. Can someone clue me in on what might be causing this problem? Your help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,

Andy

Do you get any error messages in your .xsession-errors file in your home directory?

No, I didn't get any errors in my .xession-errors file. The file does contain error messages, but they're from 8 months ago - way before I started getting this problem.

Are there any other log-type files that I could examine for a clue?

Thanks,

Andy
