Desktop margin

Hi, I want to have 50px space on the right on my desktop (on all virtual desktops) - there I want to run system monitor (like gkrellm). I want windows and other things not to use this space. Simply like there would be a panel.
Does anybody know, how to do it? Some settingsm for desktop - or where to set default window size or ... ?

You could add a child panel and reduce its length to 1% and also hide the buttons which can hide it.

But usually applications that are used that way have tze possibilities to set the appropriate window struts by themselves.
