Need help setting up KOOKA

I've got KDE 3.4 running. Now, I'd like to get Kooka working with my HP 3-in-1 printer/scanner.

Printing works fine (using hpijs driver) but Kooka does not seem to "see" the scanner part. I don't know how to tell Kooka to detect the scanner. I click on the "Select Scan Device" button, but nothing happens.

What appears to be the scanning window (the right hand portion of the window) remains grey with no indication of anything happening.

I'd like to get Kooka working. Can anyone give me some advice?

Assuming that the device is supported fo scanning:

Scanning is usually done through the libraries of the SANE project. You could check their website http://www.sane-project.org/ if your device needs some special setup or how the normal setup of scanning devices for SANE works.
