Korganizer Alarm Timezone Problem

Korganizer Alarm Timezone Problem

I have a Debian testing system with /etc/timezone set at America/New York.
my date reads:

# date
Wed Mar 30 12:06:50 EST 2005

My Korganizerr's timezone is set for America/New York as well.

From what I can gather I have a VCALENDAR file in ".kde/share/apps/korganizer/calendar.ics". Here's the head:

BEGIN:VCALENDAR
PRODID:-//K Desktop Environment//NONSGML KOrganizer 3.3.1//EN
VERSION:2.0
BEGIN:VEVENT
DTSTAMP:20050330T095535Z
.....

The time shown in Korganzier is the current time in the America/New York
time zone.

All my alarms come in at the corresponding time Zulu!!!!!! WTF?

That is, if I set an event at 12:00 with an alarm at 11:50, I don't get the alarm
until 16:50 that day!!!!

If I use "Configure Korganizer" and set the timezone to Europe/Madrid, all calander evens in "calendar.ics" (really a VCALENDAR file??) change to the corresposing time Zulu (really meaning that it shifted the acutal time of all events).

Funny thing, is, if my computer is running at 11:53 EST, and I change the Korganizer timezone to Madrid, it still shows a 11:53 running time. ????
But it has moved all the events so that the relative time is reflected. That is a 07:15 event recorded while Korganizer was configured for America/New York

DTSTART:20050330T121500Z
DTEND:20050330T140000Z

gets translated to:

DTSTART:20050330T051500Z
DTEND:20050330T070000Z

after being set to Europe/Madrid I just don't get it.

I just want to get this thing to work right. Is there some trick I am missing?
My alarms come in 5 hours late.
